Diamonds

The Guelph Slo-Pitch League makes use of a number of city and university diamonds.  Names, maps and special ground rules for each diamond can be found below.

General Diamond Rules
These rules apply to all parks and diamonds unless updated in the diamond specific descriptions.

  1. Straight lines extending out from the backstop, down 1st and 3rd base lines, will define the ‘Out of Play’ lines.
  2. If the batted ball rolls, or gets stuck, under any outfield fence it is a ground rule double.
  3. Any thrown ball which goes under, or gets stuck under, a fence is out of play.
  4. Cones should be used to highlight foul and out of play lines at all diamonds.
EARL BRIMBLECOMBE – S2(League Night)
Willow Road, west of Imperial. Located behind Mi‎tchell Woods Public School, far diamond.
Special Rules

  1. If a fair ball rolls into the left field weeds/bush it is a ground rule double.
  2. If a fair ball enters the left field weeds/bush on the fly it is a home run.
  3. Reps need to establish the boundary between left and center fields at the start of the game.
MARGARET GREEN – S3(League Night)
Located on Westwood road south of Willow. Far left diamond when walking in from the parking lot.
Special Rules

  1. Any fair ball that goes out of play along first base line is a ground rule double (it does NOT have to enter the woods).
MARGARET GREEN – S4(League Night)
Located on Westwood road south of Willow. Diamond is to your right when walking in from the parking lot.
Special Rules

  1. Any fair ball that goes out of play along first base line is a ground rule double (it does NOT have to enter the woods).
MARGARET GREEN – S5(League Night)
Located on Westwood road south of Willow. Diamond is hidden in the trees. Take the path from the parking lot right and follow it around the bend. Alternatively you can enter it from the west end of the parking lot, following the path behind the school.
Special Rules

  1. A ball entering the wooded area in left field on the fly is a home run.
  2. A ball rolling in the wooded area in left field is a ground rule double.
  3. Both center and right fields are played as open field and the batter can advance at their own risk.
  4. Reps need to establish the boundary between left and centre fields at the start of the game. (Generally, select and agree on a tree at the boundary).
TWIN PARKS – EAST(League Night)
Located off East Ring Road, north of Stone Road on the University campus. Far diamond when you walk in.
Special Rules

  1. If a fair ball rolls through the breaks in the fence it is a ground rule double.
  2. If a fair ball passes over the home run fence on the fly, or hits the top rail of the fence and bounces over the fence, it is a home run.
  3. If a fair ball hits the ground and then bounces over the fence, it is a ground rule double.
TWIN PARKS – West(League Night)
Located off East Ring Road, north of Stone Road on the University campus. Close diamond when you walk in.
Special Rules

  1. If a fair ball rolls through the breaks in the fence it is a ground rule double.
  2. If a fair ball passes over the home run fence on the fly, or hits the top rail of the fence and bounces over the fence, it is a home run.
  3. If a fair ball hits the ground and then bounces over the fence, it is a ground rule double.
CUTTEN CLUB – MAIN(League Night)
Located off College Ave across from the Cutten Club on the University campus.
Special Rules

  1. If a fair ball passes through the breaks in the fence it is a ground rule double.
  2. If a fair ball passes over the home run fence on the fly, or hits the top rail of the fence and bounces over the fence, it is a home run.
  3. If a fair ball hits the ground and then bounces over the fence, it is a ground rule double.
  4. TIME RESTRICTION. No full inning may start after 8:00PM, we must be off the diamond by 8:15 on both Tuesday and Thursday.
ABERFOYLE – MAIN(League Night)
Located at the Aberfoyle Community Center.
Special Rules

  1. If a fair ball passes through the breaks in the fence it is a ground rule double.
  2. If a fair ball passes over the home run fence on the fly, or hits the top rail of the fence and bounces over the fence it is a home run.
  3. If a fair ball hits the ground and then bounces over the fence, it is a ground rule double.
  4. TIME RESTRICTION. No full inning may start after 8:15PM, we must be off the diamond by 8:30.
OLD MORRISTON(League Night)
Located in Morriston, south of the 401 (see map).
Special Rules

  1. If a fair ball passes through the breaks in the fence it is a ground rule double.
  2. If a fair ball passes over the home run fence on the fly, or hits the top rail of the fence and bounces over the fence it is a home run.
  3. If a fair ball hits the ground and then bounces over the fence, it is a ground rule double.
